Why should my company shred documents?
Current Federal and state legislation mandates your legal responsibility to keep sensitive customer and employee information from falling into the wrong hands. Businesses can no longer throw confidential documents away. Eliminating certain data in a timely fashion limits your liability in litigation and protects proprietary information from competitors. Our paper shredding service will securely eliminate confidential information. Click here to view law.
Since we have a paper shredder, why do we need to outsource paper shredding?
Most office-size paper shredders take time to feed and cannot accommodate sizable quantities of documents. The time spent hourly each month by support staff can be easily offset with the minimum service fees to outsource and manage your business data security with autoshred. Larger capacity document shredders involve capital investment, maintenance, and service calls, and eventually they all break.
With fewer than ten employees, does it make sense for us to outsource document shredding?
Most Do! Small organizations have limited personnel resources, and they may need to outsource paper shredding more than larger companies so key support staff can handle more important business functions. Autoshred provides convenient bins onsite and conducts paper shredding according to your schedule. View information about our document shredding plan here.
Does it cost a lot to use a document destruction company?
Paper shredding is a non-revenue producing function that eats up valuable employee hours. When you consider how much it costs for one of your employees to do the job, you’ll agree that outsourcing this tedious task to Autoshred will save you time and money.
How does Autoshred mobile shredding work?
We provide on-site document shredding services using our state-of-the-art mobile paper shredding trucks. Our “hands free” shredding process means  our employees do not directly handle your documents. The paper is deposited directly from the collection bins into the shredding compartment via the bin hoist on the side of the truck.
What else can you destroy besides paper?
Autoshred’s powerful Shred-Tech MDS 35GT trucks will shred almost anything. We can and often do destroy paper clips, staples, binders, books, small amounts of discs, and CD ROMs in the regular paper shredding pick-ups.  When needed, we can destroy items such as hard drives, reel tapes, cassette tapes, and large amounts of plastics, discs, or CD ROMs when a special “product” run is requested
How long must I keep documents before they can be destroyed?
The period of time that business records are stored should be determined by a retention schedule that takes into account the useful value of documents to the business and governing legal requirements. By not adhering to ongoing destruction of documents that have outlived their usefulness, businesses exhibit disposal practices that could be negatively construed in the event of litigation or audit.

How can I be guaranteed that my sensitive documents have been completely destroyed?
At the end of every shred, a Certificate of Destruction is issued to every client assuring them that their materials have been completely destroyed. We also invite you or another representative of your organization to come out to the truck to witness the shredding process, if desired.
How often do you come to shred?
This depends on the individual organization and the amount of sensitive information they produce, and will be determined prior to service by your organization and your Autoshred Sales Representative. You may require shredding every day, once a week, once a month, or once a year. And if your service needs ever change, your frequency can be modified to meet your requirements.

Your invoice is emailed to you at the conclusion of the day when your consoles are serviced.
We use a recycler for our documents so why would I need a shredding service?
Recycling services are not designed to provide security. Your material is transported in its entirety, so if an accident should occur, your confidential information is open to everyone. If environmental responsibility is a concern for you, Autoshred recycles your documents after they are destroyed.
We store our records so why do we need a shredding service?
The period of time that business records are stored should be determined by a retention schedule that takes into consideration the records’ usefulness to the business as well as legal requirements. From a risk management perspective, once this period has passed, the only acceptable way of discarding these records is to destroy them using a method that ensures complete destruction. Oftentimes, documenting the exact date and method used for destruction is not only prudent but a legal requirement.
What size jobs do you accept?
There is no job too big or too small. We service everything from small offices to major international organizations.
Do you shred residential or home office documents?
Autoshred is pleased to offer shredding for home office use within local bylaws and community restrictions. We also offer an occasional "Community Shred" program where a shredding truck parks in a central location and shreds personal documents without charge.
I have offices in several locations; can you provide service to those locations as well?
Servicing clients on five continents, our dedicated National Accounts Program offers centralized management of your destruction services - no matter where your other offices are located.
What if I only need to use your service one time or for annual clean-ups?
No problem. Whatever your requirements, from daily activity to annual purges, we are happy to meet your needs.
Why is on site shredding better than off site?
Once your documents leave your location, you can never be sure what actually happens to them, or who may see or have access to them. A lot can happen from the time documents leave your location until they reach their final destination. When material is shredded on site by Autoshred, you can be sure that the material has been securely destroyed.
